Recording 'Harriet'

Last week I recorded the audio of the final chapters of my novel The Worlds of Harriet Henderson.

I thought that all I was doing was a kind of clearing of the decks - a necessary and overdue task - before returning to the uncompleted draft of my next novel, Sally and the Universarium.

But revisiting the final couple of chapters turned out to be a bit more than that. Recording Part Three Chapter 4 - glimpses into the ongoing lives of all the different major and minor characters - was unexpectedly pleasurable. And emotional. I wonder if it comes through in my voice.

As I was recording these last chapters, I got a couple of messages from a reader.

I only have 4 pages left and I don’t want it to be over!

I’m done! I really loved reading this book Steve! I was so nice coming back to read it at the end of each day to escape to another world.
